OK, this seems like a nice building–albeit a real “what if land acknowledgements was an architecture” way of getting people to forget that the UC is a basically unrepentant grave robber and make you instead think “wow nice building”–but this sentence struck me: “About 360 graduate students and 200 undergraduates live in the five interconnected buildings, built on what was previously a parking lot.” The parking lot was built on the Gill Tract, within the last decade, and has been a site of ongoing struggle for that reason; this place has a history. something about how history is the thing that disappears when you tour a new building.
